The Journey to open StingRay’s Bookkeeping SRB (long Story)

My life story is literally an open book, having written my autobiography and put my entire life on my other website. I expect many people to read it, be inspired by it. I expect the psychology world will analyze me from what i wrote. The timeline from 2018 – 2026 is being chronicled for various reasons.

The full journey I have taken to reach the point of accepting bookkeeping clients is one that will inspire everyone who hears it, so if my websites seem different than most others, is for the sole reason is they were created by a Writer/Author who’s documenting everything for his autobiography, this following story is only one of many.

High School “The Accounting Dare!”.

This is one of my favorite stories. Having Dyslexia gave me a ‘Math Brain’. Having a ‘Math Brain’, in High School means, I was doing complicated Algebra equations ‘In My Head!’, often turning in work without showing my work. A long discussion with my Jewish best friend while choosing classes for our senior year. My friends father, a successful Jewish CPA, overheard my boasting about how easy math was. He looked up at me, and told me my math brain is great for high school classes, but would fail if used in accounting. I was dared to take an accounting class. Accepting the dare, two semesters. What happened was so comical. During the entire year, I was the best accounting student in my class, by a huge margin. When I graduated, age 18, knew a path to a career CPA was the best path to follow.

Every morning I sat in the front row. Each morning the Teacher would go over homework after asking “Any Question?” The Comical part. I was sitting front row, and never had a question. What I did not see, no eyes in the back of my head, was almost everyone raised there hand, they were all confused. The flip side, entire class noticed and resented, I NEVER HAD A QUESTION.

Community College Accounting

The first two years of community college focused on writing, psychology, criminal psychology, pre-law, and accounting. When the accounting semester started, due to dyslexia, I needed to focus on other more difficult subjects. I went to my accounting professor and we made a mathematical calculation. For the record, my professor REALLY ADVISED Against this. I showed up for ever class, participated in the discussion, took and Aced every quiz, tests, & Exams. The calculation was ‘Taking a zero on every single homework assignment, use that time on other subjects. Again, the Professor advised against this tactic, feared a stumble would cause an F, extremely risky.

Security Officer Detour

I did stumble in a bit in Community College, stumbled in to Shotokan Karate, 2 years of hard training, which lead to a career as a security officer, that ended in 2008. I put being a CPA and Psychologist, on a back burner, to protect my community.

You are looking for a bookkeeper to keep the books on your business, healthy. The truth is your business is your life, your money to pay for your livelihood. This choice is putting your very life ‘Business & Money’ in the hands of someone else. That’s very scary, who can you trust with your life’s lifeblood (Income). Trusting a man who turned down a life of luxury earning 100K+ a year, put on HOLD! To be a Security Officer, protecting people.

Being a Professional Bookkeeper

January 2020 enrolled in Devry University online program, three months before the Global Pandemic

During Covid-19 Lockdown, locked myself in a Motel Bathroom

Side Note- I started earning my accounting degree in January 2020. I had already earned two years of college credits from previous (Psychology/Sociology) major, leaving two years to earn a BA. Due to the lock-down, finding a quiet place to study, turned a small motel bathroom into an office, barricaded myself in bathroom everyday for a year. Spending every day from 6am – 5pm reading, writing papers, weekly assignment’s, quizzes and Exams. Turning a small motel bathroom into my first office.

There were many times I was finding the mistakes in the school course material or tests, before most others. Advising the Professor and Class, to avoid everyone hitting the same wrong part, and being confused. One of the top accounting students, this schedule continued until February 2022. earning a BA Bachelor’s degree.
